The virus was called Backdoor.NetDevil and when
I caught it with my Norton Antivirus, the report was that the file could
not be repaired or quarantined. So after identifying the file folder that
was holding it. (I found that from the Norton Antivirus program), I restarted
my computer and:
Clicked F5 frequently
during restart, this brought me to a screen that
asked to select by scrolling to Safe Mode
I clicked enter ,
then enter again
Then selected my
username
then clicked yes
I went to C://my
computer and found the infected folder
I right click on the
folder and chose to run my antivirus program to
cleanse the folder
If that doesn't clear
the folder of the virus, I then deleted the
folder. Then folder came back clean on the
restart.
This was done on an XP and
may prove useful for the future.
